Architecture and engineering employment is projected to grow seven percent. Overall growth in the economy and population is expected to increase demand for construction building projects, while national efforts to rebuild infrastructure, focuses on renewable energy, and robotics will boost the demand for engineering and architecture professionals. While growth projections are just above average, specialty fields such as biomedical engineering are projected to grow at a much higher rate of 23 percent. Median annual wage for architecture and engineering occupations was $79,180 in May 2017.

These professional service positions are often salaried, require college degrees and/or specialized training, and are consistently available throughout the region thanks to area employers searching for skilled individuals who are motivated to build their careers.
