According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of construction and extraction occupations is projected to grow 11 percent through 2026. Architecture and engineering employment is projected to grow seven percent. Overall growth in the economy and population is expected to increase demand for construction building projects, while national efforts to rebuild infrastructure, focuses on renewable energy, and robotics will boost the demand for engineering and architecture professionals. While growth projections are just above average, specialty fields such as biomedical engineering are projected to grow at a much higher rate of 23 percent. Median annual wage for architecture and engineering occupations was $79,180 in May 2017.
