If you showed a list of ALL THE EMPLOYERS in the Roanoke Region of Virginia to students at Virginia Tech, Liberty, or James Madison University – how many companies would they recognize? The answer from most students is, unfortunately, none!
Or more likely two to three. It’s time we change that and give a region-wide effort to make sure that top talent graduating throughout the region recognizes our employer brands -AND- is aware of the breadth and depth of well-paid and exciting career opportunities throughout the region and across all industries.
Maximize your on-campus engagement, build brand awareness with students (Be patient! It takes time and repeated exposure.), and develop your pipeline with all of Virginia’s prestigious higher education institutions. You can just start with one or two targeted events a season and build from there. Over 80% of alumni from Virginia’s colleges say they are interested in working in Virginia. ROANOKE COLLEGE
Roanoke College offers two big, campus-wide fairs each year–one in the spring and one in the fall. This makes it easy for employers to engage with the entire student community and make a big impact at one, two-hour-long event.
Fall Fair – September 30 (4:30-6:30 PM)
Registration will go live on Handshake on July 15. Contact place@roanoke.edu with interest in the meantime.
- Corporate Organizations: $100 for 2 representatives and meal voucher
- Non-Profit, Education, & Government Organizations: $50 for 2 representatives and food voucher.
Spring Fair is Wednesday, February 19, 2025 (4:30-6:30 PM)

RADFORD UNIVERSITY
Career Expo Fall 2024 – September 18, 2024 (4:00-7:00 PM)

Radford Career Expo (Sept. 18)
Marketing & Management Employer Showcase – September 17, 2024 (6:00-7:30 PM)
Attend the special recruiting event for students interested in a variety of career fields including marketing, brand management, sales, human resources, leadership, developmental programs, consumer and product packing and information technology. All majors are invited to attend!
A number of Radford University Alumni and Talent Managers will be recruiting students for jobs and internship opportunities, which will also involve a career panel presentation and networking session.

FERRUM COLLEGE
Ferrum College is a private liberal arts college associated with the United Methodist Church in Franklin County, offering liberal arts and professional programs such as business, recreation leadership, musical theatre, agriculture, environmental science, teacher education, and criminal justice.
No fall fair is currently planned.

CISE Career and Internship Fair – September 10, 2024 (11:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
The College of Integrated Science and Engineering (CISE) Career & Internship Fair is open to the following majors/minors: Biotechnology, Computer Science, Engineering, Geographic Science, Intelligence Analysis, Information Technology (IT), and Integrated Science and Technology.
All registration fees include table (8′ by 2′), event publicity, electrical outlet, and 2 representatives. Each organization is limited to 1 table only.
- $200: Resume collection only (no employer representatives present), a drop box for students to provide their resumes. Resumes will be digitally sent at the conclusion of the fair. This is a great alternative if recruiters have schedule conflicts or when the fair fills to capacity.
- $700: Corporate/For-Profit Organizations
- $200: Government Agencies & Non-Profit Organizations (This will be verified through the email address provided during registration.)
- $100: 501(c)(3) Charitable Non-Profit Organizations (To verify status, your tax ID will be needed as you provide your contact information.)

UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA
Fall Finance Night – September 18, 2024 (6:00-8:00 PM) –
Fall Finance Night provides a unique opportunity for financial services firms to engage with students across a wide-variety of majors and class years. Last year’s program engaged more than 250 students and over 15 firms. Throughout the event, firms will have an opportunity to participate in engaging breakout sessions and one-on-one career conversations with students.
During this year’s event, employers will have the opportunity to engage with students interested in a variety of finance careers (full-time and internship roles) through engaging networking sessions. The goal of the program is to educate students about a wide variety of finance disciplines and allow students the opportunity to network with your organization. Space is limited.

**Deadline to register is Sept 12** This new event is open to all organizations interested in recruiting students for business-oriented jobs and internships. Strategically placed in the beginning of the fall semester, this event provides an excellent opportunity to interact with students who represent a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences including Commerce, Arts & Sciences, and Engineering.

Strategically placed in the middle of the fall semester, this event provides an excellent opportunity to initiate or expand upon, your recruitment efforts as you interact with students who represent a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences.

The Camp Career Fair is one of our highest energy fairs year-in-year-out with hundreds of students from a wide range of disciplines coming through the doors. This fair is for organizations looking to recruit students interested in working at camps.

In an effort to provide as much clarity for employers and our students, we have chosen to group employers into the following four categories: (1) Nursing, (2) Behavioral Sciences, (3) Health Sciences (including Allied Health), and (4) Healthcare Administration.

Whether you’re looking to hire students from our School of Business or School of Engineering, or perhaps you have a unique role for your business that might attract students from other schools or majors, this is the fair for you! Career Services has reimagined its Career Fair model and messaging, as Career Fairs are being promoted as industry based, not just school or major specific.

Fall 2024 Communications & Digital Media Experience Event Series – Sept 12-Nov 19
(10 dates for employers to conduct a two-day experience on campus. One employer with a highly immersive recruiting experience)
- Each employer who registers for an Experience Event MUST conduct one-on-one On-Campus Interviews, Mock Interviews (or real ones!), Resume Reviews, or Portfolio Reviews with students on day two of their event.
- Experience Events cost $350. This includes all event planning and coordination, marketing design and distribution, and promotion of your events and job opportunities via digital rotations, social media, and targeted emails. Employers who participate in a Fall 2024 Career Fair in addition to conducting an Experience Event will receive 25% Off ($87.50).

MOUNTAIN GATEWAY COMMUNITY COLLEGE
MGCC Fall 2024 Career Fair – October 30, 2024 (11:00 AM – 1:00 PM):
- This Career Fair is in partnership with Greater Roanoke Works, expanding the audience for this event.
- Themed in a Fall/Halloween style, students and employers are encouraged (but not required) to dress up or decorate tables accordingly.
- Employers will set up inside the Moomaw Center. Set-up starts at 10:30 AM, with the Career Fair running from 11 AM to 1 PM.
- By default, each registered employer will receive a folding table and two chairs. For other requests, note them on the registration form.
