About Melrose-Rugby

The neighborhood of Melrose-Rugby possesses both historic and cultural richness. More than 100 of its Craftsman-style buildings comprise the historic district, while more mid-century homes have been developed on the northern borders. The upcoming Melrose Plaza, slated to open in 2025, honors the legacy of the Roanoke Valley’s Black Wall Street. Its centralized, high-quality amenities will include a new grocery store, bank, public high school for adults, and wellness center alongside a vibrant public library and park.
